7 Iron Clad Questions To Ask Your Sponsor Before You Join

Question 1 to ask network marketing leadersHow much money have you actually made in your home business?

Asking this simple question can prevent you from making the same mistake I made for years.

For the first 5 year in my home business, I ran around preaching a plan of how to make $40,000 a month in network marketing.

Then one day, something strange happened.

I asked myself, of the people I’m following & listening to,

…which one of them is actually making $40,000 a month?

Awkward inward pause….

Uhhh… Zero?

Yup.

Zero!

Maybe this is why I struggled for so long.

I immediately changed mentors and within 6 months I was a top recruiter in my company.

This may seem pretty self-explanatory, but typically, in network marketing, you have a massive case of ‘the blind leading the blind.’

Make sure you know how much money your sponsor has made and make sure that your goal, falls inside that number.

Otherwise, you’ll be following someone who is simply not capable or qualified to help you get what you want.

Question 2 to ask network marketing leaders –  How much money money have your team members actually made?

Just because a guy or a gal can make money, doesn’t mean they can teach you how to do it.

Making money & teaching how to make money are 2 completely different skill-sets.

Asking this question, will ensure that you’ll be joining a sponsor who has a proven track record of duplicating results into other people.

Question 3 to ask network marketing leaders –  What training & resources do you provide in addition to what the company provides?

One of the things you want to look for in a sponsor is Initiative & leadership.

Real leaders are always on the lookout for ‘holes’ in the training & real leaders go plug those holes for their team members.

Question 4 –  What do I have to do, to get in your ‘inner circle’.

Rookies try to work personally with everyone.

Leaders know that time is an investment and, it’s precious.

As such, leaders only look to work one on one with a select group of very serious & committed people.

Asking this question can quickly tell you what kind of a sponsor you have on your hands.

Question 5 –  How long have you been with your current company?

  • Variation 1 – How many companies do you promote?
  • Variation 2 – How many companies have you been in in the last 3 years?

Inexperienced, newbies jump from company to company to company constantly.

Sometimes top recruiters (different from team builders) do the same.

Another mistake they make is trying to build more than one home business at the same time.

While it IS possible to build ‘multiple streams’ of network marketing income, it usually only works out well for the very experienced recruiter and & ends up badly for everyone else.

Sponsors who know what they’re doing & care about their teams, rarely, if every change companies.

Question 6 –  Is all of your money made through the compensation plan?

Getting them to fess up the truth on this one, can be a bit of a challenge, but it’s important for you to know – if you can get at the truth.

Sometimes, companies will offer ‘extra money and/or other types of incentives’ that are completely outside the compensation plan in order to entice leaders.

A variation of this scheme, is to offer leaders special positioning on top of a bunch of existing business.

You want to know the truth on this, so you can be sure that your sponsor actually believes  in the same opportunity he/she is leading you into,

…that they’re willing to be compensated the same way you’re gonna be compensated.

This can be a tough one to figure out, but if you can, get to the bottom of it.

You’ll thank me later.

Question 7 –  What kind of activities will be required of me to make money with this?

This is a big one that new team members hardly ever think about.

It’s important for you to know exactly what you’ll be doing to make the money.

Will you be required to call your friends & family & pitch them on your new business?

Will you be putting flyers on parked cars every Friday night outside the movie theater while everyone else is relaxing & being entertained inside?

Will you be required to cold call people you don’t know & prospect for hours & hours – leaving messages on answering machines & getting hung up on?

Now, don’t get me wrong.

I believe freedom is worth a bit of pain here & there, but painful activities that don’t work, is where I put my foot down.

You need to know this before you decide to get started.

So that’s it my friend.
