Morris E Goodman, AKA “The Miracle Man” has one of the most unbelievable stories I’ve ever run across. As someone who is committed to personal growth and helping myself and others reach their full potential, I’ve often wondered… “Are there really limits that one cannot overcome”.
Arguments can be made for the laws of nature, gravity, medicine, physics.. etc. that may lead one to believe that YES.. there simply ARE limits to what the mind of man can achive.
Morris E Goodman, and his story provide convincing proof that maybe we should be slower to come to those limiting conclusions.
At the age of 35, Morris E Goodman was an extremely successful life insurance salesman. He was so successful, in fact, that he was nationally known, recognized and praised for his fame, fortune and success in the industry.
Well, in 1985 things took a shocking turn for the worse (or better depending on how you choose to look at life’s strange and mysterious events).
Morris was taking a recreational flight in his private plan when the landing gear got caught on some telephone wires.
Morris E Goodman, his plane, and his life came crashing down to the ground with destruction.
He was told by expert after expert that…
1) He wouldn’t live through the night.
2) He would never breathe on his own again
3) He would never eat regularly again
4) He would never walk or move or talk like a normal human being.
The the utter shock and awe of the medical profession, Morris E Goodman did, 1 right after another, EVERY single thing they said he couldn’t do.
He literally accomplished the IMPOSSIBLE.
Here are 3 “secrets” I can learn from This AMAZING story.
Morris E Goodman Secret #1 – Have faith in something bigger than yourself…
Morris has a strong faith in God and this is partly what allowed him to realize that no matter what “man” said “couldn’t be done, there were higher laws at work in the universe that Morris had access to.
When I remind myself that I can literally access the powers of heaven, the universe, infinite intelligence to aid me in accomplishing goals I’ve set for myself & family…
I realize as Morris did “The task ahead of you is never as great as the power behind you“.
This is POWERFUL in helping me to have the confidence to move forward with strong, consistent action.
Morris E Goodman Secret #2 – Your Are NOT Your BODY
I remember watching a video about a man named Jim MacLaren who was an all American football player studying at Yale University with dreams of becoming an actor.
Jim was hit by a 40,0oo pound New York City bus. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jim ended up living but losing his leg.
He then, with the aid of a prosthetic leg, became the worlds fastest one legged endurance athlete on the planet.
Until… he was hit head on by a van while riding his bike in a race.
He became paralyzed from the neck down.
One of the most powerful lines I remember from that video was when Jim said “I am not my body“.
Think about that. Isn’t that true? Isn’t that empowering.
That’s 1 secret understood by at least 2 great men who have conqured in the face of seemingly overwhelming adversity. Morris E Goodman and Jim MacLaren.
Morris E Goodman – Secret #3 – Never mind What THEY Say…
It’s amazing how many people are in LOVE with words like “can’t, impossible, no way”.
Henry Ford once said “Whether you think you can or you can’t… you’re right“.
It didn’t matter what all the doctors in the world said about Morris’s situation as long as he didn’t choose to buy into THEIR belief system.
Through a powerful faith in the infinite, himself and the human spirit.. he defied all odds and triumphed.
One of the most powerful things I’ve ever done for myself is develop the belief that “I don’t worry about what other people think, do or say“.
Try living that way. You might like it.
