Pre Paid Legal Services Scam – Really?

I’m so tired of people attacking  great individuals  and companies because of their success.  Pre Paid Legal is an incredible American Success story and I’m going to show you why there is absolutely no such thing as a Pre Paid Legal Services Scam.

In July of 1969 Harland Stonecipher was involved in a head on collision.  He quickly discovers that his insurance covers everything from car damage to health bills but he’s left with large legal costs that could be devastating.  This leads him to found the predecessor of Pre Paid Legal, The Sportsman’s Motor Club in 1970. Mr. Stonecipher has been offering clients pre paid legal services for nearly half a century. This kind of longevity is a HUGE indicator that there is no pre paid legal services scam.

The 2nd major indicator of the legitimacy of this company is the fact that it’s a recognized, publicly traded company. The pre paid stock has been publicly traded since 1984 and in 1999 it was listed as the 33rd fastest growing company on the NYSE. In 2000, Forbes magazine listed them one of the top 200 Best Small Companies in America for the 5th year in a row.

And finally, you have the evidence in the marketplace proving the viability and value behind this company. Pre paid legal now employs over 700 people and they currently service 1.5 million members and independent associates all throughout North America. Could one and a half million people really be involved in a scam?

The history, public recognition and success of this company in the marketplace clearly demonstrate that any claims of a pre paid legal services scam are unfounded and really shouldn’t be given any serious consideration. This company provides great value to the market and also gives over a million independent associates the chance to “Live their dreams”.

Cavett Robert said it best “There are many people who don’t want to take the trip themselves, yet pose as experts who criticize the travels of others.”  Don’t be a critic… jump in the car and take the ride.  😉

  2. @ David – Hey David… Thank you for the great comment! You know… I purchased a pre-paid legal services membership from a friend of mine a few months ago. The other day I had the opportunity to call a law firm in Boise and receive 1 on 1 consultation with an attorney about some matters that were concerning me.

I really felt like I got some GREAT advice and it didn't cost me a dime (other than my monthly membership fee). I can really see the value in this membership and would recommend it to anyone.

Thanks again for your comment. It's good to get the truth out there.

  3. Thank you for this post. I have been using the service for 15 years and the cost far out weights the value. With the family of 6 children we have had our share of legal issues. With the Law Firm Merrit, Flebote, Wilson, Webb and Caruso in North Carolina representing us we wouldn't be with out the service. When I pay for insurance and get requested to increase my premiums all the time, Pre Paid Legal has never, I said never increase what I and my family pay for the services. And talk about Attorney access, I have had many a night I got pulled and released because I can call an attorney in less than 2 min and have them on the phone for advice! Does the world's wealthiest have access to that?
