5 Things You Can Do To Be More Like Billionaire Elon Musk

Wallace Wattles writes in his book ‘The Science Of Getting Rich’, that wealthy people think and act in certain ways.  I’ve been a believer that if we can learn to think and act in those ways, we can duplicate wealthy results in our lives.  In this video I share 5 big takeaways from chapter 1 of Elon Musk’s Biography.  These are useful things we can model in our own lives to get get better results.  Watch the video below if you’d like to check them out.

Top 5 Takeaways from Chapter One of Elon Musk: Tesla, Space X and the Quest for a Fantastic Future

Fun Fact:  Elon musk increased his net worth from 10 billion to over 46 Billion in the 5 years.

I’ve long been a fan of Elon Musk.  The guy inspires the heck out of me. In fact, I’ve actually read this book before but this time, I’m reading it with an eye to suck out the most useful things you and I can actually implement in our lives.

We may not be able to build rocketships or solar cars or send Astronauts to the space station, but we can sure as heck model some of the philosophies, and thinking patterns that are producing these amazing results.

So here are 5.

1. Look to recruit the best people you can find for your projects, not the least expensive or most accessible

The book starts out with an interview between Elon Musk and the reporter, Ashley Vance, as they have lunch together.

As the conversation turns to the topic of public relations, Elon blurts out “Who is the best PR person in the world?”

This question is telling in that it shows how Elon thinks when it comes to recruiting talent.

He wants the best.

We can too.

2. Be a man or woman of resolve.

Here is a great quote about Elon from the author,

One thing Musk holds in highest regard is resolve, and he respects people who continue on after being told no.”

If you’re going to build anything of real consequence, you must endure rejection and setbacks as a necessary part of the process.

Just like Napoleon Hill wrote in Think And Grow Rich, “The quality of persistence is to the character of man as carbon is to steel.”

3. Have an inspiring vision, even if people think you’re crazy.

Hanging on the wall next to his office, are 2 pictures of Mars.

The one on the left is the desert hell hole of a planet it currently is.

The one on the right is a luscious green inhabitable paradise of a planet Elon intends it to become.

People thinks he’s nuts for this dream, and it doesn’t matter.

The vision inspires him and an army of over 10,000 employees to work diligently each day to bring this dream to pass.

Vision impregnates our life force with vitality, purpose and passion.

You may as well nurture a grand one, even if people think you’re nutz.

4. Find the seeds in the setbacks

At one point in the book the author is describing the schedule Elon Maintains and it’s so busy and hectic he calls it ‘Preposterous.’

In explaining how he’s able to maintain the heavy load Elon says.. “I had a tough childhood so maybe that was helpful.”

Maybe the things that look like they’re against us, truly are for us, in some mysterious way.

5. Enlightenment is the right goal to strive for

Here are 2 of my all time favorite quotes from Elon Musk.

    1. “I came to the conclusion that we should aspire to increase the scope and scale of human consciousness in order to better understand what questions to ask.”
    2. “The only thing that makes sense is to strive for greater collective enlightenment.”

I made a post the other day about Enlightenment and you can see that here if you like but the bottom line is that we can all strive to enlighten ourselves and others in our personal and business activities and that just seems like the right goal to strive for.

It’s one of the reasons I love being a home business owner and internet marketer.

We get to grow ourselves, others and improve our fortune at the same time.

Win, win, win.
