Ā
Hey there my friend!
Thank you so much for stopping by to learn a little about me and my story.
You may know that I’ve been blessed to have some great success in network marketing and home business and for that, I’m SOOOOO grateful.
(The tips in this free video series helped me a ton… š )

My intention for this page is to tell you my story along with some of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way so you can get to know me a bit and hopefully benefit from some of the things I’ve learned.
Before I get too far into that though, here are some quick highlights of my home business journey (in case you’re curious)…
- I started in a single wide trailer-house
- I struggled for years and had 14 different business failures before I finally started having success.
- I’ve been job free since 2009 (Can I get a hallelujah!? )Ā š
- I’veĀ personally sponsored well over 1,293 team members 100% fromĀ home using the internet.Ā (I stopped counting a few years ago)
- I’ve been a top earner and leadership council member in my last 2 network marketing companies
- I’ve trained thousands of home business entrepreneurs and helped to develop some of the world’s highest paid earners in the Home Business Profession.
*If you’re wondering if these things I’m telling you are true (I wouldn’t blame you) – I put together this proof page here.)
Thanks to these results my wife and I haveĀ been able to fulfill 3 lifelong dreams of ours.
- Purchase our dream home in the country, pay off the mortgage and become debt free
- Fire the boss and be full time parents to our 4 boys.
… and 3. Become investors so we can continue to grow our freedom
None of this happened overnight and none of it ever would have happened without great mentors along the way who taught me the best of what they knew so I could apply in my own journey.
I’m reminded of something Bob Proctor told me one time…
“I have licence to brag, because none of this stuff is mine.” š
So how did I get here?
Early Days
I was raised in potato country in South East Idaho, a little town called Blackfoot which is actually the potato capital of the world.Ā (Great claim to fame right?) š
When I was 8 years old my dad abandoned our little family and my mom, sister and I were left to fend for ourselves.
This was hard, especially since my mom had lost her hearing when she was a little girl due to Scarlet Fever, but I learned so much through this experience.
First, I learned from my mom that no matter how hard things get, if you never give up and do your best – things usually end up getting better and working out in the long run.
She has been such a great example to me in my life because despite her handicap and challenges, she kept on keeping on and was an AMAZING mom, role model and example to my sister and I.
I also learned from my dad leaving, that “In every apparent setback, lies the seed of an equal or greater advantage.”
It was tough growing up without a dad, especially when all the other kid’s around me had one, but through this experience I was able to take on leadership roles at a young age which has turned out to be a benefit for me.
Not having a dad around also made me want to make sure this didn’t happen for my kids’ when I grew up and I believe this has made me a better father.
Early Mentors
I had the opportunity to play tailback and outside linebacker for my High School football team and even though I wasn’t the best player, I learned something that’s helped me in business over the years.
One day after practice, one of our coaches gathered us all around in a huddle.
He said to the group, “I wish we had a team full of players like Paul Hutchings.Ā He gives it everything he’s got, all the time.”
For some reason that experience has been burned in my memory as one of the defining moments of my life.
I bet Coach Marshall doesn’t even remember saying that,
I learned that when someone you look up to gives you an encouraging word, magic can happen for your belief in yourself and your ability to do great things in life.
I’m so grateful for people like that who’ve influenced me over the years and know for certain I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.
I also learned that you don’t have to be the biggest, fastest or strongest to make a difference or have an impact.
With heart, you can go the distance and without it – it doesn’t matter really matter how good you are.
I’ve always tried to remember this and I think it’s been one of my greatest assets in home business.
There are times when it feels like you’ve been knocked down so hard you don’t know ifĀ have it in you to get back up again.
It’s heart that picks you up off the ground and tells you to keep going.
College, Big Life Lessons & Early Career
All growing up I was told by teachers that if I wanted to have a successful life I needed to go to school, get good grades so I could get a good job and live happily ever after.
So, when I turned 19 – that’s what I did.
I attended Idaho State University for a year and then finished up with a Bachelor’s degree in business administration from DeVry University in Phoenix Arizona.
One night before graduation, I found myself down on my knees in my apartment, praying sincerely for answers to some questions I had.
I wanted to know if there was a God and/or if there was purpose to life.
Shortly thereafter through a strange turn of events, I went from being the least likely person in the world to be seen at church, to moving to Taiwan & learning to speak Mandarin Chinese so I could serve a 2Ā year mission.
- I learned from that experience that when we’re hungry for answers, no matter how dark and dreary the path of life might seem, our creator is always there to shine light into our lives at just the right time and in just the right way.
- Through my 2 year mission trip I also learned that one of life’s greatest treasures is love for those around us.
During that 2Ā year time frame I was able to get to a point where I was thinking more about others than I was of myself.Ā This was truly a blessing and I remember it as one of the happiest times of my life.
I’m reminded of an oft quoted line from the Bible that says “HeĀ that findeth his life shallĀ loseĀ it: and he thatĀ loseth hisĀ life shall find it.”
Often times when I’ve found myself down, discouraged or depressed over the years, It’s usually because I’m focusing way to much on myself and my own problems.
When I forget about myself and go to work in the service of others – the clouds usually seem to clear away and the sunshine comes flooding in.
My First Job After College
After my mission trip I came back to Idaho thinking that I was going to get a killer job with my business degree.
I was somewhat shocked when the best job I could find was a customer service position in a call center earning $11.09 an hour.
Fortunately for me – this job was bound to teach me some more great lessons that lit a fire inside me and set me on the path to freedom.
I’ll always remember a huge defining moment from this first job.
I remember goingĀ in for a job interview to see if I could get a promotion.
During the interview ā the boss asked me
Paul, what are you strengths?ā
I told him,ā Iām passionate.ā
We continued on through the interview and after an hour of him poking, and prodding around my life ā to size me up and judge meā¦
(like they do in most job interviews)
With hope still in my heart, we finished the interview and I waited with eager anticipation.
āDid I get the promotion?ā
āHow did I do?ā
āI wonder if he liked my answers?ā
It was then, when he lifted his finger and pointed it at my chest and saidā¦
#1 ā You donāt get the job.
And #2 ā āAre you open to some feedback Paul?ā
āSure, I told him, with a twinge of sadnessā
He looked at me and said…
āYou
ā¦ā¦..donāt
ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦..have
ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦ā¦.passion”
Right then and there I decided that I didn’t like the experience of anyone sticking their finger in my face and telling me that I didn’t have what it took or that I was destined to only earn a certain income amount for the rest of my life.
So even though I feel like that boss judged me with a look of superiority in his eyes that day, I’m forever grateful to him because he helped to light the fire of freedom deep down in my soul.
So when a co-worker one day asked me if I was open to looking at way to generate income outside of what I was currently doing – I of course, jumped at the chance.
And that’s how I got introduced to network marketing.
My Family Begins
Now right around this time I met the most beautiful, amazing and wonderful woman that I some how, miraculously convinced to marry me.Ā š
I say miraculously because I made every mistake you could possibly make in courting her.
For example…
One time on a date, I pulled into a gas station because I’d had too much water to drink.
I run into the bathroom with my small emergency and in my rush I’d not noticed that I’d actually run into the ladies restroom by mistake.
I washed my hands, realized my error and on my way out, in walks in… (you guessed it) my date.Ā Ā
Another time we were in a huge cave playing capture the flag.
She was trapped in “jail” and I thought I’d be a hero and go save her.
Little did I know that behind the “jail” was a huge pit of mud and muck and cigarette butts, and beer bottles that the party kid’s had beenĀ using as a trash can.
On my special mission to rescue my date, just as I was about to save the princess, I slipped and fell backward into this pit of despair and emerged for her to see and smell my rancidness.
And so, yes, somehow, she still decided to marry me and thanks to her, the last 14 years have been the happiest of my life.
Because we didn’t have much money starting out, we decided to move into a 1984 single wide trailer house and park it on my grandfather’s farm here in Southeast Idaho to start our little family.
This is where I started my first network marketing venture, worked for 12 months without earning a single penny and then went on to join and fail in 14 more – all with similar results.
What I learned through my first few years of struggle and failure is that a seed takes time to grow.
Looking back on those years – I now realize how foolish it would be to plant an acorn in the ground and expect a mighty oak to pop out the next day.
Dreams, like seeds, have a gestation period, and even though I wasn’t earning any money those first few years, I was growingĀ into the man I needed to become to experience the success I wanted, so badly, to have.
And this leads me another crucial prayer – which served as the launching point for my long awaited breakthrough in home business.
My Home Business Breakthrough
There I was, tears streaming down my face as I knelt down next to my son’s bottom bunk bed in the back room of our 1984 single-wide trailer house, praying for a miracle.
I’d just finished reading my 2 oldest sons their nightly bedtime stories and watched them drift off to sleep.
As I stared down at those 2 angelic faces, I started to cry because it hit me that I was failing as a husband, father & provider.
Life had punched me in the gut and dropped me to my knees, literally.
I’d been through 14 home business failures.
I wondered what on earth could be causing all of these struggles?
I had even come up with the idea that maybe I hadn’t yet succeeded because I’d been trying to find my success part time, while holding down a full time job.
With the encouragement of my supportive wife Corene, I had decided to quit my job and go for my dreams full time.
Much to my surprise, in 6 months of going at it with everything I had, I found myself in an even worse position.
We were living off of savings, which were dwindling fast, and my network marketing income had actually decreased from it’s already meager amount, despite 6 months of full time and overtime effort.
I was sure matters couldn’t’ get any worse, and then they did.
One day while I was feverishly working in my trailer-house office, surrounded by brown 7o’s style paneled walls, I heard my wife’s suburban pull in the driveway.
She had just come home from a 2 week check up where she’d taken our newly born 3rd son, Kyson, to see the doctor.
I arose from my office chair to meet her in the living room where she was in tears.
In between sobs and hugs she told me that our new baby had a head condition calledĀ Craniosynostosis which meant that the bones in his head were prematurely fused together.
He needed a $50,000 surgery down at primary children’s hospital.
I wrapped my sobbing wife in my arms and told her “Honey, everything will be ok,” but the truth was, I was scared and had no idea what was in store for our little family.
And that’s why I found myself down on my knees with tears streaming down my face that night, doing the only other thing I could possibly think to do in that moment, to find a solution for my family.
2 things happened as a result of that prayer that changed everything for me.Ā Ā
First, I distinctly remember a set of instructions that came to my mind.
I don’t recall hearing a voice or seeing a vision or anything like that.
I just knew, deep down inside, that I was supposed to pull the book Think And Grow Rich off my bookshelf and begin a serious study.
This felt a bit strange to me because certainly, I’d read the book before.
Usually I’d finish it up, say to myself “Man that’s a great book,” throw it up on my bookshelf and then dive into the next read.
Suddenly I knew, that kind of read wouldn’t do.
I was supposed to study, understand and apply what this book had to teach me.
Francis Bacon once wrote “Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested: that is, some books are to be read only in parts, others to be read, but not curiously, and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention.”
I knew in my soul that this book, Think And Grow Rich, was one of those books that fell into the latter part of this description.
And so I set to work.
I marked the pages, I folded the corners and I highlighted passages.
I committed to follow each instruction as if my life depended on it (and in a sense, maybe it did.)
Each night beneath the Idaho stars, I would walk up and down my driveway repeating my Major Definite Purpose and Self Confidence formula.
After a few weeks, I began to feel something change inside me.
I was becoming someone different.
It used to be that I always hoped this business or that idea would work for me.
I wished it, I prayed it and I begged it.
This was different.
I knew, deep down inside, that that money was waiting for me with absolute certainty.
It was already in existence, in other people’s bank accounts and all I had to do was perform the service necessary to transfer it from their accounts to mine.
I began to speak differently and show up differently in my business.
It was as if faith permeated my entire existence and a subtle something,Ā had showed up to help me.
I remember hearing Jim Rohn say one time,
“some people claim faith doesn’t exist because you can’t see it. That would be like saying radiation doesn’t exist.Ā We know radiation exists because it has an affect, and it’s the same with faith.’I felt like I knew exactly what Mr. Rohn was talking about.
My mindset had shifted and this was the first important change I needed.
The 2nd thing that happened.Ā Ā
Right around this same time, I found myself online searching for answers to my home business problems.I knew there must be away I could use the internet to generate leads online and sponsor into my business so I could make money and be free.
One day I saw an ad with a lead capture page like this one.
I put in my contact info and began to learn about marketing.
Here’s 1 marketing idea that made a big difference for me.
Tapping Into Natural Demand
One of my early marketing mentors taught me that it’s pretty difficult to sell steaks to vegetarians.
Vegetarians don’t eat meat, so why try to sell them something you already know they don’t want.
And yet, for 5 years straight, that’s exactly what I’d been trying to do with my network marketing business.
When I learned that every day, millions of people were waking up with a desire to buy the exact thing I was selling, and thatĀ through the power of the internet, I could connect withĀ themĀ and show them my products &Ā business,
… everything changed.
And so – I went to work on strengthening my mindset and masteringĀ marketing and that’s when miracles began to happen.
The first miracle came when, in about 6 months, the exact amount of money that I’d been seeing in my mind’s eye showed up in my bank account.
It was the strangest experience.
For 6 months I’d been visualizing $1,500 from my network marketing business and $1,500 from a system I was promoting and then one day I got a check for $1,500 exactly from the system.
I then logged into the back office of my network marketing company and about fell out of my chair when I saw the amount was $1,498 ($1,500 minus a $2 check processing fee)
The miracles continued, the business prospered and new and exciting dreams were realized for myself and my family one after another.
I’m now so blessed to say that I’m a happy, prosperous, free and independent man today and I owe it all to the mentor’s I’ve had along the way, not the least of which has been our infinite mentor, who has always seemed to be there for me during times of my greatest need.
So that’s my story.Ā š
I really hope you can take some of these lessons and principles that I’ve shared on this page and apply them in your home business so you can achieve your hearts desires.

Paul, great message…I can relate to your story…sometimes when things look down it is for a reason. I also went to Ricks & BYU. Used to work in the home office of a large Provo mlm for many years but never took the mlm plunge till just last December after a layoff…now making more than my last corporate job and more time for the family.
Hey Brett.. Absolutely.. I believe those things DO happen for a reason.. Napoleon Hill says that our greatest opportunities in life are located right on the other side of what appears to be our biggest challenges/setbacks. I BELIEVE IT! I’ve seen it in my life. So awesome to hear your story of success Brett. Thanks for the comment & hope to connect and get to know you better. Keep up the great work.

Hi, Paul I, M in need of a miracle myself, I, m reading the book the greatest miracle in the world by Og Mandino. I anticipating learning something.
Awesome Victoria… I do believe in miracles and love that book!
Hope to be of service to you.
All the best,
Paul
Hi Paul,
I appreciate you listening to me last week. Gosh I really have no one else to talk with about this that will understand. My biggest obstacle is myself. I understand this but how to get over it is so challenging. Everyday I have voices that play in my head with why this doesn’t make sense.
Ok here goes. I’m scared to death that money will change me like it did before http://renandhiedi.com/about-ren/. Prior to March 2008 I was very successful financially but my spiritual and personal life was horrible. I had such tunnel vision and nearly lost my family. After 2008 I’ve become closer to my family and much more spiritual but financially it’s been a challenge.
To solve this in November 2008 I spent $17k on a program called Millionaire Mind. I did some pretty intense stuff! I went to all kinds of seminars and got to the root of my issues or so I thought. It was great but then I noticed this trend. Some of my closest friends left the church and all they held dear. I don’t know if it was money, success or what ever.
I even had a former partner of mine tell me that he’s never made as much money as he has now but lost everything that was important in his life his family and he was doing everything he could do to get them back.
So my biggest challenge is my fear of going back to the way it used to be and loosing my family. I had close many close friends who read The Science of Getting Rich over and over and became very very successful. They read philosophy books like Conversations with God and Atlas Shrugged. Their scriptures took a back seat and they eventually left the church. I’ve read all these books and watched the secret about 100 times. I understand that David Wood is a former member of the church and actually went on a mission.
SO I JUST DON’T GET IT?
So my question to you is how have you been able to become successful in this other area yet still keep your Testimony? I know that if I can get over the obstacle of myself that everything else will just fall into place but I’m scared to death.
Please please help! Your the only person that I’m aware of that has been able to balance both.
Ren
Hi Ren,
I’m so sorry I never saw this comment until now.
What you speak of is very common. The idea that more financial success will bring loss to other important areas of your life. This can and certainly does happen so It’s a valid concern.
For me – I’ve always loved the line from T Harv Eker in ‘Secrets of The Millionaire Mind’ where he says – “Poor people think in terms of either/or – wealthy people think in terms of ‘and.’ ”
I love the idea that we can have both. We can be successful financially AND also be successful spiritually.
In fact, I think spiritual success can feed into earthly success.
The parable of the talents is a great example.
That story seems to indicate that we are supposed to take what we’ve been given and multiply it and make the most of it.
Maybe the key is integration versus sacrificing one for the other.
In my current business, we set it up so that a portion of all we earn goes to help feeding kids through an organization called Feed My Starving Children.
This means that the more we succeed financially, the more we succeed spiritually because we’ve integrated the 2.
We also are striving to build our business in such a way – that everyone wins and no one gets hurt.
This is a spiritual principle I believe.
I don’t have all the answers – but It’s never made sense to be that God would want the best for us and want us to struggle financially at the same time.
I think another key for me has been how I defined financial success. For me it’s never been about mansions or fancy cars. It’s been about freedom and financial stability.
I think this would be in alignment with what my idea of God’s will for my life might be.
It also sets the bar to such a place that I never feel like I have to sacrifice my family or other important spiritual parts of my life in the pursuit of achievement.
I love what Napoleon Hill said – “If money is all you have in your paycheck at the end of the week, you have been grossly underpaid.”
I coined a term that was inspired from that quote – ‘Soulpay’.
As I’m building my business and going about my life – I’m looking for the soul pay to be included within my weekly paycheck.
Again the world ‘Integration’ comes to mind.
How can you build a business and a life where you and others win financially AND spiritually?
That’s the question we want to answer, and I believe there definitely are answers when we ask the questions in the right way.
Anyway, hope some of this has been helpful.
Once again – sorry for the long delay.
Better late than never right? š
All the best to you and your family,
Paul
