Last night I was chatting with 3 of my sons before bedtime and they had the idea to go around in a circle and share,
a) something good that happened from the day
and
b) a good quote or piece of wisdom
It was so fun to listen to each of them share their ideas.
Camden, my 12 year old said “If you want things to change you have to work on changing yourself.”
We had a little chat about being the change you wish to see in the world, and what that meant.
I said to the kids “If I want you guys to not yell at each other, and then I yell at you – is that being the change?”
They said “Of course not.”
Then Camden said “Ok dad, next time you tell us to to stop yelling I’m going to tell you to be the change you wish to see in the world.” ha ha..
The icing on the cake was when Kyson, my 10 year old came up with his very own quote/piece of wisdom.
He said ‘In 20 years, it won’t matter what clothes you wore or how your hair looked today, the only thing that will matter is what you learned and how you used it.’
That’s right son. That’s right.
