This last Saturday on our new member orientation, my business partner shared a story that honestly, got my blood boiling.
In this post, I’m gonna share that story with you, along with a powerful lesson that has the potential to help you BIG TIME with your marketing content. (be sure to read all the way to the bottom to make sure you get this little gem of a nugget)

Ok, back to the story & marketing lesson.
Before we had HBA, Mike had purchased a funnel builder product from a well known goo roo online. This funnel builder had no training so Mike wasn’t sure how to use it.
Low and behold, this goo roo happened to be selling a “Certification course” to learn how to use this builder.
This “certification course” just so happened to cost,
…. wait for it….
EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS!
Can you believe that?
When I heard this story, which I’ve heard before, I started to feel ANGRY.
I said to myself…
“‘If you’re trying to suck every single penny you can from the people you’re ‘serving‘, you’re not a leader or a coach, you’re a shark!
I was literally feeling the emotion rise inside my chest as I thought about all the sincere people out there with families, dreams, hopes and aspirations – who are just doing their best to provide a better life for themselves and the people they love….
Getting wrung dry financially by people who are supposed to be there to help them.
It angers me and this intense sense of injustice only increases my motivation and desire to get a better message and learning opportunity out there into the world.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on tools and education to be able to grow the income you want to grow, online.
Start small with people you can trust and stay away from anyone who tells you that their coaching or training is your salvation, especially the ones who are selling that salvation with HUGE price tags.

Here’s that lesson…
If you can have an “Emotional Driver” in all of your content, your content will be much more effective.
This email is one example of content that packs an emotional punch, and because it does, it can make you FEEL something…
Anger, injustice, motivation, etc.
If you help people FEEL something in your content they will remember you and appreciate the experience you delivered to them.
I think it was Maya Angelou who said “People will forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
Too often as content marketers we forget this.
Let this be a reminder.
Oh, and it doesn’t mean you have to be fake or manufacture feeling where there is none, rather it just means you want to be on the lookout for the REAL stories and experiences that you are having that you can write about.
If you have a choice between 2 pieces of content, one with a soul, and one without – go with the one that has a soul! 🙂
