Yesterday I was watching an interview with the man, the myth, the legend – Mr. Elon Musk and he used a master marketing technique that made me want to buy his product.
He was telling the interviewer how the Tesla model X can actually dance.
It can play a symphony and actually dance to the music.
Then he smiled as he talked about how there are tons of fun little features built into it like that that most people don’t know about because they are “Easter Eggs” meaning you have to hunt for them to find them.
He also said they are currently building an Atari game system into the car so you can play games in your car.
Then he dropped this master marketer bomb.
“The Tesla is not really a car – it’s a creation intended to maximize enjoyment.”
That statement, really made me want to buy.
Why?
Because he explained his product in terms of – not what it was – but in terms of what it does.
This is the difference between features and benefits.
If you want to be great at sales & marketing, learn to get good at communicating the benefits of your product, service or business model.
