If you’re building an email list so you can share your most treasured nuggets of wisdom,
Impact lives, and yes of course, recruit & make sales,
You’ll notice that no matter how great your value is, people will still unsubscribe.
This has affected me in 2 different ways over the years.
First, it used to make me sad and self conscious.
Was it something I said, or wrote?
Am I emailing too much?
Nowadays, when someone chooses to unsubscribe – I have a different response.
If my messages don’t help them enough to keep them, why would I want them to stay?
If they don’t value my heartfelt intentions, could I ever help them?
If they don’t appreciate my words, would they ever buy or join?
And so for those, I smile and say..
Good bye valued subscriber.
Thanks for coming, I hope you find what you’re looking for, I still have others to serve. π
Thank you Paul, I am learning to grasp this concept. I suppose I should be celebrating all of my new wonderful subscribers. It’s funny, I may get 30 new subscribers, but then I focus on the 2 that unsubscribed. Learning every day. π Thanks for your leadership Paul. π
Hello Paul – its funny, I read this post 2 years ago. Over the last few months, my subscriber base has been growing. And as it grows, I have noticed that over time, some will unsubscribe. As I was going through the HBA Premium training, one of the thoughts in the FB training for one of the steps for inviting was to disconnect emotionally. That stood out, because that is something I need to do with my email marketing.
I then remembered this blog post you wrote 2 years ago and searched for this post on your blog and found it. Just needed that extra boost and perspective when someone unsubscribes. Thanks to you Paul, I now have a different perspective.
“Good bye valued subscriber. Thanks for coming, I hope you find what youβre looking for, I still have others to serve.”
Thank you Paul. π
I love it! Thanks LT! Appreciate that so much and it’s so true.. We do what we do with the understanding that our service is not for everyone and that’s ok.
You rock!
