How to Promote a Blog Post: Turn One Post Into More Eyeballs
Quick heads-up: I'm sharing a few private videos of the new marketing system I've been building. Grab the free sneak peek here.
The easiest way to promote a blog post is to stop treating it as finished the moment you hit publish. Share it on social media, send it to your email list, and turn a piece of it into a short video that points people back to the full post. One post, three more ways for people to find it.
That's the whole workflow. Below I'll show you exactly how I did it with one post, start to finish, in a single day. If you'd rather watch, the video above walks through it right on my screen.
The mistake I see all the time
Here's what most of us do. We write a piece of content. Then another one. Then another. And we hope somebody stumbles onto piece one, piece two, or piece three.
Sometimes they do. Mostly they don't.
The reality is, a little strategy goes a long way. Create one solid piece of content, then create more content whose only job is to promote that first piece. It's less work than starting from scratch every day, and it gets a lot more people looking at your stuff.
Short-form video makes this really easy now. More on that in a minute.
How I wrote the post in the first place
Quick side note, because people ask. The post I used for this was The Pistachio Lesson. I'd been reading Stephen Covey and had some ideas rattling around, so I opened the AI agent in the builder, clicked the microphone, and said something like, "I want to make a blog post. Here are my ideas. Can you make this post for me?"
It wrote the post. I published it. Then the fun part started.
(If you're wondering why I bother with a blog at all, I wrote about that in The Silent Lead Machine.)
Step 1: Share the post on social media
If you're an HBA Premium member, every published blog post has a little Share button. Click it and you get three things:
- A picture made from your post that you can download
- A description written for Facebook, X, or LinkedIn
- The link to your post, ready to drop in the comments
I posted the picture to Facebook and literally copy-pasted the description it gave me. By that same morning it had 17 likes and 11 comments.
There's some programming going on behind how that description gets written that I won't get into here. The short version: it takes your post and packages it in a way that makes people want to go read it.
So again. You don't just publish the post. You go promote it.
Step 2: Turn the post into an email
Second step, send the post to your email list.
In that same Share window there's an Email tab with a button that says Write the email with AI. Click it and Email Alchemist opens inside Traffic Maestro, reads your whole post, and writes an email in your voice that's built to get your list to open, read, and click.
You pick an angle (I went with the teaser about my old boss who told me I had no passion), and it hands you a draft.
Now here's the thing. Read it before you send it. Ask yourself two questions: Is it true? Is it me?
Mine had a mistake. The email told people I'd made a short video walking through the whole thing, but I was sending them to a blog post, not a video. So I fixed that line, pasted in the full link to my post, loaded it into a broadcast, added a quick picture of me, and sent myself a test. I always test my emails. Then I sent it to my list.
One more thought. A good email delivers value on its own. If some folks read it and never click through to the post, that's okay. They still got something useful from you.
Step 3: Make a short video that points back to the post
This is the newest piece, and the one I'm most pumped about.
The Share window now has a Short video tab. It reads your post and pulls out a few small ideas from it, each one turned into a short-form video script. Those scripts are designed so that when you say them on camera, people get curious and go read the full post.
Here's how it goes:
- Pick a script and click Make this short.
- Choose your profile. Your script opens in the short-form area of Traffic Maestro.
- Read it and edit anything that doesn't sound like you. It came from your own post, but make sure it's something you'd actually say.
- Turn on your camera and record.
- Edit the video, generate a thumbnail, and publish.
My video went live on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The call to action at the end is simple: if you want the full story on the difference between primary and secondary greatness, go read the post. Then I give my web address.
Step 4: Make sure every post leads somewhere
All of this gets more people reading your posts. But how does it lead people to your business?
Two ways.
Banner ads. I've talked about this before. When someone's reading your post, they should be able to see a banner ad for what you offer.
A heads-up line at the very top. This is something I've started doing recently. Before the post even starts, I add one short line like this:
"Quick heads-up: I'm sharing a few private videos of the new marketing system I've been building. Grab the free sneak peek here."
Before anybody gets into reading, they have a chance to click that link, land on a capture page, and learn about the new system. You'll see one at the top of this post too.
The whole blog promotion workflow in one place
- Write and publish the post.
- Click Share and post it to Facebook, X, or LinkedIn.
- Use the Email tab to turn it into an email. Read it, fix anything that's off, and send it.
- Use the Short video tab to make a short that sends people back to the post.
- Add a heads-up line and a banner ad so readers can find your offer.
A few extra steps, and one post shows up in a lot more places.
Who this won't help much (yet)
If you aren't publishing posts yet, start there. Nothing to promote means nothing to share.
And the Share button, the email writer, and the short video scripts are part of HBA Premium. If you're not a Premium member, you can still do every one of these steps by hand. It just takes a lot longer.
Want to see the system I'm building?
This workflow is one small piece of what we've been building inside the Home Business Academy. If you're curious, you can grab the free sneak peek videos here. No pressure at all. Come see for yourself.
Thanks for reading and whatever you do, always go for your dreams!
Paul
P.S. Try it with your very next post. Publish it, then do just one of these steps the same day and see what happens.
