Have you ever wondered – What are the exact steps I need to follow to make money?
I know I have.
When I first got started in my home business 10 years ago, that question drove me NUTZ.
What exactly do I need to say to prospects?
What’s the magical closing line?
You feel me right?
Over time, I’ve learned that principles seem to matter more than tactics & specific strategies.
I believe these 15 Principles Or Laws, Laid down by Napoleon Hill are some of the biggies.
Law #1 – Definite Major Purpose
Have you ever seen Alice In Wonderland?
Do you remember that part where Alice askes the cheshire cat for directions?
Cheshire cat: Where do you want to go?
Alice: I’m not really sure.
Cat: Then it doesn’t really matter which road you take .
For whatever strange and mysterious reason, it seems that we must know exactly what we want to ahieve in life, before we have any chance of getting it.
Even the bible says “Aks and ye shall recieve”.
What are you asking for?
Do you know?
If you’re just getting started in Home Business, you might want to follow the advice Robert Kyosaki gives in his book, Rich Dad Poor Dad.
He says your first goal should be to make enough Pipeline Money to free yourself from you job.
Simply add up your expenses includeing the any mone you need to live on and BOOM –
There’s your first definite major purpose.
We’re not looking for the grand purpose of your overall existence here on Earth (yet)…
(That might come later).
Start with a simple Pipeline Money goal.
Do you have the Definite Major Purpose statement downloaded, filled out & memorized yet?
If not, here’s a copy.
It can help a lot.
Law #2 – Self Confidence
Do you ever have thoughts of self doubt?
Do you ever wonder – “Do I have what it takes to be free”
If so…
Pat yourself on the back because you’re in GREAT company.
No one is exempt from this.
We all have to work on it and the good news is, eventually we DO get more faith to replace the less than desirable thoughts and feelings.
I was at an event recently where I heard one our top producers, say..
The hardest thing about success is the feelings of unworthiness that go along with it.
If top producers have these thoughts and feelings too..
Maby you can smile and realize..
It’s ok… I just need to work through them like all the other leaders are doing.
Napoleon Hill gives us a mantra to repeat on a daily basis that can help with this.
It’s called “The Self-Confidence Formula” and you can download it here.
Law #3 – The Habit Of Saving
How much money do you have saved up right now?
(no need to comment down below, just answer the question in your own mind)
According to Napoleon Hill, one of the greatest forms of personal power comes from the accumulated financial resources that can be saved up over time.
If you get into the habit of saving, just a little bit, of your income.
You’ll be blown away by what can happen over time.
When my wife, Corene and I first got married, we were surprised to discover,
…that even making $11.09 an hour – which was my hourly pay at the time –
that we could save up like 50,000 or $60,000 over the next 5 years.
We set the goal and without ANY big success in my business – we hit it.
It’s been a HUGE blessing for our family.
When you save money, it gives you more freedom.
Have you ever seen a leader in home business – make a bad decision to jump ship – because the company offered them a bribe?
Lots of times, this is because the leader made tons of money – but never saved any.
It’s unfortunate and 100% preventable if we save a bit along the way.
Law #4 – Initiative And Leadership
Doing what needs to be done, before anyone tells you to do it.
So simple, my 2 year old sone, Kyson, understands.
Lots of times he’ll come running up to me with a BIG smile on his face & say “Dad! – I did some Initiative”
Lol.
1 simple way to applly initiative & leadership in your home business,
…is to hold a weekly conference call or webinar/hangout where you share some of the things you’re learning with the people who’re following you via email & social media.
One of the cool things about showing initiative and leadership is (if you believe in the Law Of Compsensation) – You’ll ALWAYS be paid back 100 Fold for what you put out there.
Law #5 – Imagination
Seeing your better future, in your minds eye, every single day…
Is a CRUCIAL step in developing Faith.
It takes imagination.
It takes practice.
To me, faith is a real power.
It’s tangible.
It’s palpable.
Like Jim Rohn Said, it’s like radiation.
You can’t deny radiation exists because you can’t see it, touch it or smell it.
You know it exists because it has an affect.
And so does faith.
Imagination is the first lap on the journey of faith.
Law #6 – Enthusiasm
Have you ever heard of Zig Ziglar?
Do you remember what he said about sales?
I’ll never forget it.
He said “Sales, is not a thing in the world, but a tranferrence of feeling.”
Enthusiasm for what you’re doing has a magical effect.
People seem to be drawn to it.
And, it’s EASY to have.
How?
Think of something you’re excited about out.
ha ha.
Pretty easy right?
I love thinking of Pipeline Money and Freedom.
Those 2 things pump me up like CRAZY and my voice begins to fill with color and excitement just thinking about them.
Before you ever get on a conference call, write a blog post, speak with a prospect..
Maybe a it’s a good idea to ask yourself..
“What am I excited about”.
Then, for good measure.
Say to yourself – “I’m excited, I’m excited – I’m EXCITED!”
Jump up and down a bit if you need to.
Get up & pace around the room.
Do whatever it takes – to get some enthusiasm in your soul – because people will respond WAY more to HOW you say what you say – than what you say.
Law #7 – Self Control
Do you think I want to be here writing this blog post right now?
Not really.
As the late, great copywriter Gary Halbert once said.
Writing sucks! I hate it!
lol. – Ok.. well.. maybe I don’t hate writing… but seriously –
Hot tub? writing a blog post… Hot tub? Writing a blog post?
Hot tub is gonna win every time!
Successful people do what others find boring and uninteresting because they know they MUST do those things, to get what they want out of life AND be able to impact the world in the way they want to impact it.
So…
have some non-negotiables and FORCE Yourself to do them.
Here are some of mine…
Blog Daily,
Market my business daily,
Get to all my company events,
Read for 30 minutes,
listen to 30 minutes of audio from someone who makes more money than me,
connect with all my new team members for new member coaching.
We must force ourselves to do the things we must do – for our better futures depend on the doing of those things!
Right?
Law #8 – The Habit Of Doing More Than Paid For
This is also referred to, by Napoleon Hill, as Going The Extra Mile.
It means – doing what needs to be done and a little bit more.
… or a little bit better.
I recommend getting started with simple things.
Here’s one idea.
Instead of just posting random pics & stuff on Facebook.
How about taking a few extra minutes to create a graphic that’s sized perfectly for Facebook..
… And will GRAB the attention of your friends & followers when they see it.
You can do this for FREE on www.Canva.com
1 simple little act of going the extra mile, can spill over into MANY other areas of your life & business.
Law #9 – The Pleasing Personality
Are their certain people you LOVE to be around?
Why?
Do they make you laugh?
Do they compliment you?
They they have a positive attitude?
Are they moving forward in positive ways through life?
If you and I are going to do GREAT things..
(and, we are – aren’t we?)
We MUST have the buy in and support of other pe0ple.
A pleasing personality is one of the BIG attractor factors for getting compliance from those around us.
Simple tip – Learn to make people laugh by telling a joke or funny story every once in a while.
Here’s one I got from my 6 year old Camden.
Question: Why did the man throw the stick of butter out the window?
Answer: Because he wanted to see the Butter Fly.
BWA HA HA HA
Ok.. now go tell someone else.
Wallah! You now have a pleasing personality. 🙂
Law #10- Accurate Thought
I’ve been listing to Dan Kennedy lately, and one of the things that impresses me about him is his refined power of accurate thought.
Have people around you ever given you unsolicited advice or opinion?
Of course they have, that’s what people LOVE to do right?
Dan Kennedy reminded me the other day, that 99% (his number, not mine) of people are broke.
If 99% of people are broke – then how accurate do you think their advice is.
Short answer?
Not very.
Don’t listen to the masses.
Instead, listen to mentors.
Also – test, test test.
What’s the conversion rate on your capture page?
Out of every 100 People coming to your funnel?
How many will join?
These are things we CAN know the answers to – BUT- it involves THINKING – TESTING and paying attention to our business.
Law #11- Concentration
How many times do you check Facebook every day?
Be honest.
WAY more than you should right?
I know.. me too.. Still working on this one myself.
Good news?
We can get better.
Concentration is the ability to FOCUS on the task at hand until it’s done.
Start something – and then finish it without getting distracted.
Here are some tips for better concentration.
1) Check facebook and email once per day.
2) Use a to do list EVERY day. Never start your day without a battle plan – or you’ll end up getting sucked into someone else’s plans.
How good are those plans? (Just remember what Dan Kennedy said above)
Man – those 2 tips are probably an AMAZING start.
You think?
Law #12- Co-operation
Have you ever heard the phrase – “It’s more powerful to be unified than it is to be right?”
One of my old mentors used to say that all the time.
How do you get people unified?
Here’s one big MASSIVE tip.
Have a vision for the future and a simple plan of action that NEVER changes.
Repeat it over and over and over again.
Believe in it yourself.
Work towards it.
Make sure it’s big enough to include the dreams of all those around you, you’re working to lead.
Not bad eh?
Well, as Bob Proctor says… “I’ve got license to brag because none of this stuff is mine”.
(thanks DW) 😉
Law #13- Failure
What do you think about the word failure?
Like it?
Hate it?
Embrace it?
Here are some different ways of looking at it.
“There IS no failure, only feedback.”
“When you lose, make sure you don’t lose the lesson too.”
“In every apparent setback lies the see of an equal or greater advantage.” – Napoleon Hill
Law #14- Tolerance
Have you ever run into that guy or gal who just HAD TO BE RIGHT?
You know the one.
That guy on Facebook who always has to have the last word on your status update.
The gal KNOWS that your business must be a pyramid scheme because she read all about it at some review website written by some very broke person.
I’ll always remember Bruce Lee talking about how we should be like Water.
Water runs down hill and picks up the sticks and debris that are ready and willing to float with it.
.. and what about the rocks and stones that stand firm, planted in their position?
it flows smoothly around them.
Seems like we should be a bit more like water in our businesses doesn’t it?
Law #15- The Golden Rule
Ahhhh…
Wasn’t Jesus Right when He said “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you?”
Right in the sense that,
due to the Law Of Reciprocity – odds are – that in following this great law,
..we’re much more likely to life a happy, peaceful & prosperous life?
One simple way to follow this law within your team & company is to recognize others accomplishments.
When your team members sponsors a new customer or hits a new income goal…
Upload their pic to Facebook & give em a shout out.
Mention them on a conference call.
Evan Scoresby once told me a quote that I’ve always remembered…
Recognition, babies cry for it and grown men die for it.
Seems true doesn’t it?
In any case my friend…

Hello I’m Miss Sherry. Thank you for being a positive leader of Home based Academy. Can you email me a direct link of a home based business online that is free and that with work will generate me high amounts of income. Thank you and have a great weekend.
HI Miss Sherry… it is not free to join The Home Business academy… However you can subscribe to my email list for free here, and in the process have the chance to join The Home Business Academy as a paid member… If joining as a paid member is not the right thing for you now, you can still learn a lot from my email list.
I am asking because when I Google “The Law of Success in Sixteen Lessons” by Napolean Hill, I get a totally different Table of Contents than the laws laid out here.
Thank You,
Vishaal Patel
Yeah – there was a 1925 version – which was the original.
Napoleon Hill could not find a publisher for that one and so he was encouraged to expand it.
That turned into the 1928 version that we are studying.
I have both – and the 1928 version is a LOT more comprehensive.
Hope that helps!
Paul
Hey Paul, I’ve been staying connected through the TAGR replay calls and was wondering what book this is from? What book are you currently reading off of in the first two weeks of February 2015?
