If a genie appeared and offered you one wish…
What would you choose?
Common choices might be:
- Health
- Wealth
- Love
- Fame
- A new house, car or some other coveted material object.
According to the old story, the Genie of the Universe appeared to a man named Salomon in ancient times, and made this ultimate irresistible offer.
“…the Lord appeared to Salomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.”
Salomon’s uncommon answer persists through the pages and centuries of history.
“…an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad.”
The God of life replied by granting the wish along with a special bonus.
“Lo, I have given thee a wise and understanding heart; … And I have also given thee that which thow has not asked, both riches and honour: so that there shall not be any among the kind like unto thee all thy days.”
Perhaps some wishes are better than others.
The root or the fruit?
The seed or the tree?
To live a life filled with the True Riches of Salomon, maybe it can be as simple as making the same wish, upon arising each day.
- Ask for understanding, and then
- Seek in daily study, to receive.
I can tell you from personal experience, the decision to arise each morning and seek wisdom from the best books I could find, for the last couple decades of my life, has been a true master key that’s unlocked, at least some of, Salomon’s true riches for myself and my family.
What are you wishing for each morning?
Are you wishing for the best thing?
The most valuable thing?
Is your morning routine harmonizing your life with the example set by the wisest man who ever lived?
It’s never too late to make a wish… and keep wishing.
Thanks for reading and whatever you do, always go for your dreams!

PS: This is the oldest known visual depiction of King Salomon. A sculpture that’s nearly 1,000 years old.
I love this post and I LOVE that statue! Amazing. It’s a great reminder to pay closer attention to what we are wishing for when we wake up each day, and to remember what really matters. Thank you.
Thank you Amy! Love you so much. So glad you like the statue.. It fascinates me that it’s so old and beautiful. History is so mysterious.
