‘Like a bum who gets paid‘ -Ben Settle
I still remember the day.
It was a Saturday morning in the midst of a frigid Idaho winter.
We had a hotel meeting scheduled for Saturday night and a ‘big hitter’ coming in to do the presentation.
I put on my shirt and tie, drove my used car to the biggest town around and with freshly printed flyers in hand started going door to door into local businesses, one after another.
I can still feel the chill of the biting cold, freezing my fingers and my heart as people smiled politely at my invitations.
Looking back on it now – I chuckle realizing I was acting like a bum – and getting paid like one too.
Fast forward to today, I never leave the comfort of my nice warm office.
No meetings, no lunch appointments or contact lists.
Write an email, hit send & have a few conversations a day.
Still like a bum – but one who gets paid. 🙂
