The Be Back Rock

As you’re inviting people to look at your products and services, some will be open to looking,

Others won’t,

And others, won’t be content with just saying ‘no’.

They’ll want to take the opportunity to throw rocks at you.

A common one, occasionally thrown by other networkers, is the ‘mines better than yours’ rock.

Unfortunately, I’ve thrown this stone myself plenty of times over the years.

At the time, it seemed like a good recruiting strategy.

But then, when someone finally hit me in the face with one, here’s what I noticed,

…It didn’t feel so good.

Finding a product, service or company to market, can be a bit like picking a great outfit to wear in public.

If someone insults the outfit,  it feels like a direct hit, not to the outfit, but to the one wearing it.

Psychological bullying can work on some, but those who are paying attention, don’t appreciate it, and will make a mental note to ‘steer clear’ in the future.

A stone thrown can eventually boomerang around, and wack you in the back of the head.
