The Compound Effect (Chapter 1)

Our Freedom Crusaders book of the month for June is The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy.

Darren built a six figure income before he was 18 and a million dollar per year income by 27.

He’s the publisher of Success Magazine.

Might not be a bad guy to learn from right?

The big point, so far is that success is small inglorious acts repeated with discipline, over time.

Here are my top 4 takeaways from Chapter 1 of the Compound Effect.

  • Success is hard, tedious and sometimes boring. (he attributes his success to the positive habits he’s developed)
  • You already know all you need to succeed, new information is not what you need, a new plan of action is.

If information was the answer (because of the internet) we’d all be rubbing out six packs while driving our Lamborghini’s to and from our mansions.  🙂

  • Be the one who says ‘no‘ – it’s no great achievement to go along with the crowd.
  • Nothing fails like success.  “Wealth tends to skip a generation.”

It’s hard to succeed before you have success and sometimes it’s hard to succeed even after you’ve had success because you have to keep finding reasons to keep going.

Once you’ve achieved what you wanted – what reasons are there to keep moving forward?

Maybe this is why magic lies in cultivating daily disciplines and learning to master yourself as a practice – instead of being driven to and fro by the ever changing whims of desire.

So there you go.

  1. Success is hard work
  2. You’re ready now
  3. Say no
  4. Self mastery & discipline is a solution for succeeding through success.

What’s one simple positive discipline you can start implementing today?

Make it happen & you’re on your way to putting The Compound Effect to work in your life.

  1. Paul! Thank you so much for sharing your insights on the first chapter. I love the part when he talks about the little things that make the biggest difference. It’s no wonder so many people fail & never experience their desired lifestyle because so many people are focusing on the big things.

But compounding the little things together create an undeniable effect on our lives.

Definitely looking forward to finishing this book.

Thanks again for your leadership and mastery.

One discipline that you helped me to start is my new blog, and I can’t thank you enough Paul Wall Hutchings!
