Want to Build a Business Around AI? Here’s the One Skill That Actually Matters.

Everyone’s talking about starting an AI business. Almost nobody’s talking about the smartest way to actually do it.

I got a call the other day from a family friend. He’s been a friend of my son since they were little.

He just bought his first house. Getting started in life. Probably getting married soon.

He wanted my advice.

He’s been seeing videos online about a huge opportunity helping businesses create websites with AI. He asked me if I thought it was a good idea—or if it was already saturated.

I told him the truth.

Building websites for businesses has been around for a while. Business owners have been hammered with that offer.

But here’s what they haven’t been hammered by:

Helping businesses get up to speed with AI. Using it to automate processes they hate. Eliminate unnecessary expenses. Deploy AI for marketing and customer acquisition. Maybe even rebuild their entire system so they’re positioned for what’s coming.

That’s not saturated.

There’s a huge need and a growing demand.

There’s also a lot to learn. And it won’t be easy starting from ground zero. But the opportunity?

It’s real.

He asked if I had any courses he could buy to learn this stuff.

Even though I do sell courses and tools that use AI… I didn’t have anything that would teach him what he specifically needed to know.

So I gave him the best advice I could:

Just start using it. Tinker with it. Build things.

That’s what I’ve done over the past two years. And it’s worked better than any course could have.

Start with a goal in mind. Something cool you want to do or something you want to build, to make something in your life more fun, more fast, more pain free.

Then start building it.

Use AI to learn the things you don’t yet know. It will teach you step-by-step, piece by piece, and meet you exactly where you are.

Toward the end of our conversation, he asked about my business. Whether I had any job opportunities where he could come work for me and learn.

I told him one of the biggest benefits of my business model is no employees.

So unfortunately, I didn’t have that kind of opportunity. But I do have an opportunity for people to become affiliates.

He was curious.

So I broke down the difference.

Starting a Traditional Business vs. Becoming an Affiliate

When you start a traditional business from ground zero, you have to learn and do everything:

  • Market research
  • Product or service development
  • Tech and infrastructure
  • Payments, billing, collections
  • Sales and marketing
  • Customer service
  • Product-market fit validation
  • Logos, branding…

The list goes on and on.

Nothing wrong with this, and it may be the right choice for a lot of people.

But the other choice …

Become an affiliate with a good company?

Your only job is sales and marketing.

That’s it.

This allows you to focus all your time and energy on developing the single most valuable skill in business.

When you pick up that skill, you can do anything in life.

I remember getting similar advice when I was his age from a Robert Kiyosaki book.

He was talking about network marketing, but the same lesson applies.

When you join a business that already has:

  • ✅ The products built
  • ✅ The customer service handled
  • ✅ The product-market validation done

…you get to focus on the one thing that actually grows your income: sales and marketing.

That seemed like a great idea to me back when I was just married and living in a single-wide mobile home.

So that’s what I did.

It allowed me to retire debt-free in my early 40s and build a life I love.

Eventually, I did start my own company.

But really only out of necessity.

I needed something I could count on. Something that wouldn’t go out of business, change things, or fail me and the people I serve in the ways we’d been failed over the years.

That’s the only reason I started my own company.

Had I found one that ticked all the boxes—where I could just focus on sales, marketing & growing a residual income—that’s what I’d still be doing today.

Why I’m Sharing This

I thought I’d put this out there in case anyone else could benefit from this kind of advice.

When I was getting started, the internet was the hot new thing. It was exciting to build a business around.

They say history repeats itself.

In my opinion, that same kind of exciting, once-in-a-generation opportunity exists today.

It’s called artificial intelligence. And the opportunity is real.

We do teach this in our company.

But we’re not on the AI hype train.

Instead, we focus on empowering people with AI tools they can use right now to grow a residual income online.

Instead of teaching people how to build the drill from scratch, our goal is to give them the drill so they can make the hole.

If you’re looking for a way to grow an AI-powered business from home—without having to become a tech genius—what we’re doing might be worth a look.

You can take a free tour of what we have here.

But here’s the thing.

Whether you decide to learn how to build the drill or use the drill, the real opportunity, is always in the same place.

It’s in the place it was back when I started online and the internet was all the rage.

It’s in the same place today now that A.I. is all the rage.

Inside you.

AI, just like the internet, is available to everyone. But not everyone will learn to deploy it at the highest value for themselves and others.

That’s an individual decision. And that’s where the real opportunity lives.

Your desire to learn. Your hunger to win. Your willingness to work.

Some things never change.
