Are you busy all day but your business isn’t growing?
Let me guess: You’re posting on social media. Watching training videos. Organizing your workspace. Tweaking your website. Reading success stories. Feeling productive… but not seeing results.
Truth Bomb: Most of what we do in our home businesses is just sophisticated procrastination. 😬
I know because I’ve been there. Spinning my wheels. Feeling exhausted but getting nowhere.
But then I thought about & realized: There are only THREE activities that actually move the needle in your business.
Just three.
Do these consistently, and you’ll see growth. Skip them, and you’ll stay stuck—no matter how “busy” you are.
The 3 Non-Negotiables for Home Business Growth
1. Create Content
Content is your 24/7 sales team. It works while you sleep, builds your authority, and attracts your ideal prospects to you.
Yesterday morning, I wrote a blog post and sent it to my email list. Simple. Effective. And in the PS line? An invitation to check out a resource that could help them.
This morning I’m writing the post you’re reading right now… Notice a pattern?
Content doesn’t have to be complicated. It can be:
- A quick social media post sharing a lesson you learned
- A short video (like the one this post is based on!)
- An email to your list
- A blog article that solves one problem
The key? Do it consistently. Even 15 minutes a day compounds into massive results over time.
2. Build Relationships
Network marketing is called “network” marketing for a reason. Your business grows through real human connections. (and ya, this works wonders in affiliate marketing too)
I recently reconnected with an old friend in online marketing. We caught up about life—his new baby girl, getting his Facebook account back, his interest in EFT. Real conversation.
Real friendship.
That’s the foundation everything else is built on.
You’re not looking to “recruit” people. You’re looking to build genuine relationships with people you actually care about. When you do that, business opportunities emerge naturally.
Spend time every day:
- Reaching out to old friends
- Commenting meaningfully on others’ posts
- Having real conversations (not just dropping links)
- Following up with people you’ve connected with
3. Give Invitations
Here’s where most people freeze up. But here’s the secret: an invitation is not slimy sales —it’s service.
If you genuinely believe what you’re offering can help someone, you’re doing them a disservice by NOT inviting them to check it out.
After chatting with my friend, I asked him if he’d heard about our personal development app. Why? Because I already knew he loves personal growth and online marketing. It was relevant to him.
I kept it simple, piqued his curiosity, and gave him the chance to say yes or no. No pressure. No sleazy tactics. Just a genuine invitation.
He said “no, what it is?”
I shared a few quick details & let him know I could send him a video that went into more detail.
Then i went back to him and how I was so excited to see the pictures of his new baby girl.
We’ll see what he says next, but the point is, I’ve did my job for the day. Everything that comes next is up to him.
The key to great invitations:
- Know your audience (what do they care about?)
- Be conversational, not salesy
- Arouse curiosity by using what you know they’re interested in as part of the invitation
- Let them decide—no pressure
- Follow up naturally
The Daily Action Plan
Here’s what this looks like in practice:
Morning: Create one piece of content (a post, email, or video)
Midday: Engage with 5-10 people genuinely—comment on their posts, send a message, have a real conversation
Evening: Send 1-3 invitations to people who would genuinely benefit from what you offer
That’s it. Simple, but not always easy.
The magic happens when you do this consistently—not perfectly, but consistently.
Why This Works When Everything Else Doesn’t
These three activities work because they’re the only things that:
- Build your visibility and authority (content)
- Deepen trust and connection (relationships)
- Actually ask for the business (invitations)
Is there anything else that matters? (comment below if I’m missing something here)
You can have the perfect website, the most organized CRM, and all the training in the world—but if you’re not doing these three things, you’re not really building a business.
Your Turn: Take Action Today
Right now, commit to doing one of these three things today:
- Create a piece of content
- Reach out to build or strengthen a relationship
- Extend an invitation to someone who’d benefit
Don’t overthink it. Just do it.
Thanks for reading and whatever you do, ALWAYS go for your dreams!
