Time Under Tension (A principle for faster growth)

The other day I ran across a YouTube video where this guy in a trim, fit, vibrant looking body asked me,

“Would you like to learn how to grow your muscles faster and in much less time?”

I like to workout and so of course my answer was “YES” but as I leaned in and listened to what this guy had to say, I discovered an idea that could help me, not just in the gym, but with many other areas of life and business.

The guy said that T.U.T – or Time Under Tension is the the key to growth.

He then explained that most lifters will complete the exercise in fast movements but the real key to growth is to slow down and leave you muscles in tension longer.

Slow and controlled versus fast and jerky.

In the gym, as in with most things in life, we are looking to avoid pain and embrace pleasure.

The problem with this is that, in many cases, short term pleasure leads to long term pain and short term pain can lead to long term pleasure.

So whether it’s in the gym or in business or some other aspect you’re looking to grow in %FIRSTNAME%, maybe we should learn to learn to lean into the pain instead of looking to avoid it.

Sacrifice now, rewards down the road.
