Don’t Make This Fatal Recruiting Mistake

This morning I got a Facebook message from someone who sent me 10 paragraphs or so of content, including a YouTube video bashing the church I attend and asserting all sorts of negative things.

Here’s what I messaged back.

I appreciate your intentions (First name) but the fact is you have no idea what I believe because you have placed me in a bucket and assumed that I am the label on the bucket.

That being said.. once again – I appreciate your good intentions… I know they are based on love and goodwill… Perhaps before assuming you know how to fix someone – it would behoove you to ask questions and assess where the person is actually at.

One of my favorite quotes is “Prescription without diagnosis is malpractice”

It doesn’t matter whether you’re recruiting for a religion or a home-based business, many of the same rules apply.

One of my first mentors in network marketing wrote the word ASSUME on a piece of paper and then asked me, “Paul, do you know what happens when we assume things?”

‘What?’ I said.

I then proceeded to cover parts of the word with his finger as he said “You make an “A.S.S. out of U and ME.”

Pretty good lesson to remember.
